5 Most Common Types of Smartphone Screen Display

Types of Smartphone Screen Display:-

The better display quality company provide, more the customer attract to the device, for example the Apple's retina display made a great reason for selling the phone same as Samsung Super AMOLED display made a great boost for selling the device.
However for the quality of picture in a screen multiple factors are responsible for the clarity, Here we will have a look over most popular and widely used display in smartphone.

1. Gorilla Glass:-

This is not actually display, it is It is alkali-aluminosilicate glass shield with damage resistance, light and thinner glass sheet used to protect the main display, developed by the American Company Corning Inc and first Brought in Smartphone by the Apple for its I-Phone.
Features- High scratch resistance, hardness, More Thinner, Providing better Surface
Gorilla Glass 3 is claimed to be 40% more scratch-resistant

How Gorilla Glass Made-
  • FUSION PROCESS - The molten glass is fed into a trough called an “isopipe,”
  • ION-EXCHANGE PROCESS - large ions are “stuffed” into the glass surface, creating a state of compression.
Devices Uses Gorilla Glass-
  • Motorola Droid Bionic - Gorilla Glass 2
  • Motorola Moto G - Gorilla Glass 3
  • Asus ZenFone 5 - Gorilla Glass 3
  • Samsung Galaxy S5 - Gorilla Glass 3

2. Retina Display:-

Apple for its having higher pixel density More than 300 PPI and 960x640 pixel screen (with backlit LED) called it Retina display because Human eye is not able to discriminate its pixel by naked eyes.

Devices use Retina Display
  • iPhone 4/4S
  • iPhone 5/5C/5S
  • MacBook Pro
  • iPad 3rd/4th generation

3. Capacitive Touchsceen LCD:-

Consists of a layer of glass (insulator) coated with a transparent conductor, Respond on the electrical signals in human body to detect when and where the user touches on a Screen display.  It can’t be used as insulating material in cold weather because usability decreases.
Capacitive displays developed thinner and more accurate touchscreens such as Samsung's Super AMOLED screens enhances response of touch.  It is much better and responsive to human touch when compared to resistive touchsceens

  • Nokia Lumia 1520

4. TFT LCD (Thin Film Transistor technology):-

It is modification of  LCD that uses thin-film transistor (TFT) . most commonly used in  mobile phones, TVs, Monitor etc. higher resolutions, better quality and contrast compared to earlier generation LCD,  but still having narrow viewing angles and poor visibility in direct light. TFT also known as active-matrix LCDs.  TFT LCD Used in low-end smartphones.

Devices use TFT LCD-
  • Sony Xperia T2 Ultra
  •  Nokia Lumia 610

5. Resistive Touchscreen LCD:-

Multi layer of conductive material with a very small gap between them which acts as a resistance and response based on pressure applied in the screen. It is High resistance to liquids and contaminants and relatively cheaper, But not as responsive as capacitive touch screens in Smartphone

Device use RT LCD-
