The phone sports an elegant design and has anodized metal like frame which makes it durable. The phone weighs 130 grams and measures 8.8mm around the waist.
In comparison, the Galaxy J2 edges the former with a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display and a better screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels which leads to a pixel density of 234ppi. There is no difference in the weight; however J2 measures 8.4mm around the waist which makes it slightly slimmer than the Core Prime. The two devices come in three different colours as well.

  • Configuration and OS

The Core Prime is powered by 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM and Adreno 306 graphics which delivers smooth performance. It runs on Android v4.4 KitKat operating system. On the other hand, the Galaxy J2 derives its strength from 1.3GHz Exynos 3 quad-core processor paired with 1GB RAM and Mali-T720 MP1 graphics. The Samsung Galaxy J2 is powered by Android v5.1.1 Lollipop.
To sum up, both the devices have similar configuration, but the Galaxy J2 users get to make the most of Android with Lollipop OS.

  • Camera and Storage

Both the phones are stacked with 5MP main camera with LED flash and 2MP front cameras and record high definition videos @30FPS. The Core Prime comes with inbuilt camera features like Face detection, Geo tagging, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR), along with these features the Galaxy J2 also features Continuous Shooting and Touch to focus.

The Core Prime houses an inbuilt memory of 8GB which can further be expanded up to 64GB. The J2 has the same inbuilt storage capacity but it supports 128GB of expandable memory which is much more than the former.

The Core Prime is backed by a 2,000mAh li-ion removable battery which gives a talk time of up to 10 hours on 3G. Like its competitor, the Galaxy J2 also sips juice from a 2,000mAh li-ion battery.

The Samsung Core Prime covers a wide range of connectivity features which include Bluetooth v4.0, A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, HID, HSP, MAP, OPP, PAN, PBAP, A-GPS, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n, Mobile Hotspot and OTA Sync among others. The Galaxy J2 beats its family rival by offering 4G connectivity, along with the other necessary connectivity features which are inclusive of Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, AGPS and USB.

  • Conclusion

Both the devices are impressive and tailor made for consumers who prefer quality low budget smartphones. The Galaxy J2 deserves to be costlier, simply because of its overall features and flexibility. It beats its rival with a bigger display and better screen resolution, larger storage capacity and not to mention the 4G compatibility which most consumers look for before buying a new phone. Having said that, it doesn’t make Core Prime a bad phone at all. The Core Prime has its own strength, it is equally powerful when it comes to the processor and RAM and gives a lag free experience while multitasking. The compact size fits well on hands and can easily be operated one handed. It has same camera quality as well. Considering all these, it can certainly be preferred over certain Chinese brands, as it is always wise to go with a quality brand than trying a new one.
